Tips To Avoid Lower Back Pain

By Amit Kheterpal

The lower back region is called the lumbar region of the body and is the most critical in terms of it supporting the entire weight of the body. Also it is this region which gives us the ability to be flexible and rotate easily.

This region called the lumbar has about five most critical vertebrae of the spine and it gets the most pressure whenever we do anything related to the back.

For example if we sit then the disc pressure is applied to the lumbar area and the five vertebrae. Same goes for the driving where sometimes we sit for hours together and that means that you are exerting undue pressure to the lumbar area.

Even while playing games you either bend backwards or sideways and in each of these cases the pressure is exerted on the lumbar area.

Well the best thing to avoid to this pressure is to never sit and always stand. This is nest to impossible so the next best thing to sit but with a proper posture. The proper posture makes sure that you have the correct pressure applied at all areas and there is no extra pressure on some areas. The undue pressure causes the lower back pain.

For the correct pressure to happen you need a few things like and ergonomic sitting chairs. If the chair you are sitting is not designed ergonomically then also you can have pain as the pressure or the support from the chair is being applied at the wrong places.
Ergonomic dictate what are the pressure points in the lower back of the human body and then a chair designed with ergonomic principles will have the support for those pressure points.

For the lower back support the most recommended support length is 5 cm and that the able between the seat and the back rest has to be 120 degrees.

Then if you know that you are will be driving long distance then make sure that you have lumbar support pillows so that you do get support at the desired areas. If you do not have the lumbar support then make sure that you stop frequently and do some exercises so that the back get some rest and you are not over exerting your lower back area.

Make sure that you protect this important region of the body so as to not let it be damaged as it can be very painful afterwards.
