How Your Body Reacts To Fire Damage

By Aydan Corkern

There are many types of risks with fire damage to your homes, but there are also many to you and your body in general. There are several steps of damage to your skin that will cause you a light amount of pain or damage or the worst kind could be inflicted, which would just kill you. There are actually six steps of damage that can happen to you and your skin.

The first style of burn will not cause you a lot of pain because this is the lowest on the scale of six. These burns will show up red and tender to the touch but won't develop a blister. The second style of burn will also look red but will develop small patches with clear liquid, and you will also develop blisters with the pain intensifying with the depth of the burn.

The severity of the damage to the human body by burns is also classified by the severity of the burn and the depth of the burn. In the first two types of burns, you can recover quite well and have very little damage to the skin wherever the burn is located, but sometimes these might leave mild scars.

With the next four types of burns, they cause more damage and the worst could result in a fatality. With the third style of burn, you might not feel the skin that has been burned because your nerve endings in your skin have also been damaged. These types of burns are usually irreversible because the outer layer of skin is completely gone. If the area is a large area of the body, then it might kill you. The fourth will destroy the skin and the muscle underneath and will cause irreversible damage. Hospitalization is required for this type of burn. The fifth and sixth will also require hospitalization, but the damage is so bad in these stages that most of the time, the person who has received these burns don't live for too long after the fire.

The pain would probably be so great that if you did live through the fire, you might not make it to the hospital. If this damage were to settle on one of your arms or legs, you would most definitely lose this part of your body. You could live through this and maybe later down the road, you might be able to get fitted with an artificial limb like some of our military personal have received.
