Hybrid Cars: The Car Of The Future

By faye bautista

Since gas prices are still very high and there is still uncertainty to it becoming stable. Affected by the economy's poor performance can make people think about selling or trading their cars for a newer kind that will promise better gasoline mileage. These cars are called hybrid cars.

Many may think that hybrid cars came straight from a science fiction movie but this is not the case. Although hybrid cars are still at its infancy this is the car of the future. These hybrid vehicles will provide bigger savings as compared to using the conventional type.

The most common hybrid vehicles that are available today is using multiple propulsion systems, which are gasoline and electricity. Although there are research using ethanol or plant based oils as its fuel, the electricity and gasoline combination for propulsion is being used in the road.

The history of hybrid vehicles dates awhile back when inventors were still debating and finding ways to switch from the steam-powered cars to electricity driven carriages. It was during the late twentieth century that the car companies saw potential in electricity-powered vehicles to be bought and used by the masses.

The first hybrid vehicle produced where it was needed to be plugged in to an electric outlet to recharge the battery. This proved to be a very inconvenient way and have only enjoyed brief popularity. Lately, thanks to the advancement of this technology, scientists have found away to harness the wasted energy on braking and deceleration and convert it to electrical energy that is now used to charge the battery.

Battery technology has also advanced a lot. It has become much lighter and smaller compared to the past and it is also more powerful. Hybrid cars work by using gasoline and electric energy to get these vehicles in motion. Depending on the driving situation you are in, hybrid cars can use either electric motor or its gasoline engine in providing propulsion for the car.
You will be able to save gasoline with hybrid cars as it needs less gasoline for propulsion. Hybrid vehicles today also have smaller gasoline engine. You will not only save money on gas, but you will also contribute to a cleaner and greener environment.

Hybrid vehicles are designed with a sleek aerodynamic body that will reduce drag for better efficiency. Most hybrid vehicles are constructed with state-of-the-art lightweight materials for more efficiency. It will be more cost efficient to choose hybrid cars in the long run and helping lessen the air pollution at the same time.
