This article will take a look at three popular styles of faucet and their uses. First, we will take a look at the oil rubbed bronze centerset faucet. Typically, this is the type of faucet that we have grown accustomed to seeing in our bathrooms and will consist a single piece with two separate knobs and a spout in the middle. There are also larger centerset faucets for the kitchen, though this is less typical. Their spouts stretch higher so that it is easier to fill pots with water, but the internal mechanical workings are much the same. Most bathroom sinks will be designed for a center faucet with all three holes located close together. They are some of the most common types of faucet and very easy to install. Next, there is the widespread oil rubbed bronze faucet. These faucet types are much more typical for the kitchen sink and bathtubs as they are perfect for installation over tile or granite. They allow you the option to chose the location of the levers and spout yourself, since each piece is independent of the other. The benefit of these are that you can create more custom look in your bathroom and kitchen and you do not weaken the granite or tile as much by having the holes spaced further apart. The downside is that more skill is required to install the widespread faucet, which can increase the cost of installation. Lastly, there are single lever oil rubbed bronze faucets. The single lever is integrated with the spout, with the lever above the spout. By lifting the lever up and swinging the to the left or right, you are able to adjust the water flow and temperature. Single lever faucets have always been popular in the kitchen for their ease of use, especially for kids and situations when one hand is already full. More recently, there has been a popularity increase for modern style single lever faucets in the bathroom. Also, these faucets are very easy to install since no holes need to be cut in the countertop.
